Verifying your identity

Your Amazon Pay Payment Account is used to receive funds processed through Amazon Pay and disburse them to you. For regulatory reasons, we need to verify the identity of your business and ownership of your bank account before you can use our service. This page explains the merchant identity verification process and the documents you need to provide to create and verify your Amazon Payments merchant account.

Document submission

Before submitting documentation, you must sign in to Seller Central and complete the registration process:

Document requirements

Amazon needs to verify the identity of the legal representative or beneficial owner registering the account.

Note: For security reasons, we can only accept documents uploaded through Seller Central.

The person registering the account, also known as primary contact person, needs to provide two documents:

Identity document

A government-issued photo identity document used to confirm your identity, such as a passport or national ID. If your residential address isn't on the document provided, you need an additional document as proof of address for address verification:

  • Utility bill (dated within 60 days).
  • Phone bill (dated within 60 days).

We accept passport, passport card, national identity card, driving license, enhanced driving license, citizenship card, permanent residency card, or military identification card.

Your identity document must:

  • Be a government-issued photo identity document recognized and issued by the country where you're a citizen or resident.
  • Show your first and last name. The name must match the name entered under primary contact person information.
  • Include your date of birth. The date entered must be an exact match.
  • Show the unique ID number. The number entered must be an exact match.
  • Have an expiry date (if applicable). The number entered must be an exact match.
  • Have the bearer's signature (if applicable).
  • Provide both sides of the ID if there's vital information on the back (signature, date of expiry, date of birth, or barcodes).
  • Be a color copy.

Note: ID holder must be 18 years or above. If your document doesn't have an expiration date, you can enter a dummy date of three months from the date of registration.

We accept bank statement (including current account, savings account, or credit card statements).

Your proof of address document must:

  • Be issued within the last 180 days and show the issuing date, due date, or transaction dates.
  • Have the financial institution details showing at least one of the following: bank name, bank stamp, bank signature, or bank logo.

We might ask for additional documentation after registration. Check your email and Seller Central Performance Notifications regularly and respond promptly.

If we're unable to verify the information you provided and request that you resubmit your documents, you'll have 30 days to complete this request. If we don't receive your documents within this timeframe, your merchant onboarding process will be closed and we won't be able to activate your Amazon Payments merchant account.
