Enable Amazon Pay on Shopify

Amazon Pay is working with Shopify Payments to simplify managing your transactions and orders. By doing so, we will offer a streamlined checkout experience with improved decline handling and recovery.

Activating Amazon Pay will require enabling Shopify Payments. To activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments take the following steps:

  1. Activate Shopify Payments using the steps on: Setting up Shopify Payments.
  2. After successfully activating Shopify Payments, select Amazon Pay in the Wallets Section of the Shopify Payments page within the Shopify admin panel.
  3. You will be prompted to register for an Amazon Pay merchant account. You can use your existing Amazon Pay merchant account credentials or register with a new email address.
    Note: To enable Buy with Prime, register with the same admin email address as your Selling on Amazon account.
  4. Follow the prompts to provide your business information, and point of contact information.
  5. When ready, associate your Amazon Seller Accounts with Shopify by clicking Agree and Continue.
  6. Click Transfer API Keys.

You’ve successfully activated Amazon Pay on Shopify Payments. Amazon Pay transactions going forward will not be visible in your Amazon Pay merchant account in Seller Central.

Existing Amazon Pay accounts wanting to activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

At this time Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments is only available to merchants that are trying to newly enable Amazon Pay or merchants enabling the Buy with Prime app on their Shopify store.

Am I required to activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments?

No, you are not required to activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments if you already have Amazon Pay activated on your Shopify store. However, if you want to enable the Buy with Prime app, you must activate Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments.

Am I required to activate Buy with Prime for Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

No, you are not required to activate the Buy with Prime app when activating Amazon Pay on Shopify Payments. You can use Amazon Pay as an independent service to provide a checkout experience to your customers with an Amazon account.

I have additional questions regarding my Amazon Pay merchant account after activating Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments

If you previously had a direct integration with Amazon Pay and have switched to Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments visit Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments for more information.

If you are activating Amazon Pay for the first time on your Shopify store and never had an Amazon Pay merchant account, your Amazon Pay merchant account within Seller Central will be used to associate the checkout session with your Amazon Pay account and receive the necessary information to process the payment. Transactions and reporting will not display.

To continue using Amazon Pay with Shopify Payments your Amazon Pay merchant account must remain open and in good standing. Closing your account will disable Amazon Pay in the Shopify Wallet and the Buy with Prime app if enabled. There are no ongoing fees to keep your account open and if you wish to disable Amazon Pay on your Shopify site please do so within the Shopify Payments Wallet.
