Key rotation best practice
Regular key rotation helps you protect sensitive data. To prevent potential damage if a key is compromised, rotate keys used for encryption periodically, ideally every 90 days. After you’ve rotated keys, add the new keys to your integration to encrypt data with the new ones.
There are currently two different technical integrations of Amazon Pay. The legacy Checkout v1 and the latest Checkout v2 integration. Rotation process differs depending on which integration you use.
Note: You'll still be able to do transaction level operations such as refunds or captures on orders that have been created with previous keys.
Rotating keys for Checkout v1 (legacy)
- Go to Contact us in Seller Central.
- Click Amazon Pay, and then click Integrating your website.
- Request rotation of your keys through the email form or chat.
After key rotation you’ll receive confirmation via email with instructions.
Rotating keys for Checkout v2
- Sign in to your Amazon Payments merchant account in Seller Central.
- Click Settings , and then click User Permissions.
- Under Amazon MWS Developer Access Keys, click Visit Developer Credentials.
- Under MWS credentials, click View, and then click Rotate keys.
- To rotate your keys, click Rotate keys.
- You'll be prompted to confirm key rotation. Click Rotate keys.
You've created a new pair of keys. Your previous keys are inactive. In your integration, replace your previous keys with the new ones.
