Deleting payment methods
To remove a payment method from your Amazon account:
- Go to the Amazon website.
- Click Account & Lists and then click Your Payments. Alternatively, go directly to your Wallet. You might need to sign in.
- Under Cards and accounts, select the card or payment method you want to remove.
- Click Remove, and then confirm by clicking Remove.
If "Remove" is greyed out or unavailable
Amazon prevents you from removing a payment method that is currently in use. This can happen when the card or payment method is set as your default, or when it is linked to active subscriptions or pending orders. To remove it:
- Add a new payment method. In your Wallet, click Add a payment method and follow the prompts.
- Set the new method as your default payment method. Select the new payment method in your Wallet, click Edit, and enable Use as default payment method.
- Update any subscriptions or pending orders. Go to Your Orders, Your Memberships &Subscriptions and Your Amazon Pay Activity to switch the payment method on any open transactions still linked to the old card.
- Retry the removal. Return to your Wallet, select the old payment method, click Edit, and then click Remove from wallet.
Removing a bank account or EBT card
Bank accounts and EBT cards follow the same removal process. If the Remove option is not visible, make sure the payment method is not set as your default and is not linked to any active subscriptions or pending orders. Add a new payment method, set it as default, update any open transactions, and then retry the removal.
