Atlas for Men on Amazon Pay

Atlas for Men uses Amazon Pay to create a seamless checkout process for shoppers

Atlas for Men uses Checkout Version 2.0 to optimize the online retail experience for shoppers, who can check out using their Amazon accounts securely and directly from the website.

Like many merchants, Atlas for Men is always looking to optimize the online checkout experience for shoppers, especially because habits changed following the COVID-19 pandemic. Simple, secure online checkout options have become increasingly important to shoppers.

Because many Atlas for Men shoppers were familiar with Amazon.fr and already had Amazon accounts, Atlas for Men decided to incorporate Amazon Pay, an online payment service that makes checkout fast and secure for hundreds of millions of Amazon customers around the world.

Easing the checkout process for shoppers using Amazon Pay

Founded in 1999, Atlas for Men is a global retailer in outdoor clothing. An increasing percentage of its 2.9 million customers choose to make online purchases with their mobile devices, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Atlas for Men has long recognized the need to streamline the online checkout experience. It sought to provide the convenience of online pay for a customer base that averaged from 40 to over 60 years old and that wasn’t familiar with electronic wallet solutions. Because many shoppers already had accounts on Amazon.fr, Atlas for Men hoped to tap into that affinity by adding Amazon Pay to its website in 2018. “At first, we implemented Amazon Pay based primarily on the growth of Amazon’s reputation in France,” says Ludwig Dumortier, head of the strategic project management office at Atlas for Men. “Today, we see that the Amazon Pay option has completely revolutionized the way our customers make purchases.”

Implementing Amazon Pay with a few clicks

With just a few clicks, Atlas for Men added the Amazon Pay payment button to its website. Shoppers with Amazon.fr accounts experience the same fast, secure, familiar checkout process on Atlas for Men’s website as they do on Amazon.fr, without the need for any additional registration. Shoppers check out with Amazon Pay in just a few clicks, with access to the same information and payment methods that are securely stored on the shopper’s Amazon.fr account. “Amazon has the reputation of being very robust in terms of security, so our customers feel comfortable making purchases from our site,” says Dumortier. “Customers know that when they use Amazon Pay on our site, it’s totally secure. That results in higher conversion on the backend.”

In 2020, Atlas for Men upgraded to Amazon Pay’s next-generation web checkout technology, Amazon Pay Checkout Version 2.0 (Amazon Pay CV2). Using Amazon Pay CV2, shoppers benefit from a variety of payment methods, such as installment payments, recurring payments, and subscriptions. Atlas for Men also works alongside a third party to offer a “buy now, pay later” option. The variety of payment options ties in with Atlas for Men’s mission: to offer clothing for everyone, regardless of size or budget.

Like other online merchants, Atlas for Men is constantly examining ways to increase the conversion rate, or the percentage of website visitors who purchase something from the online store. “We were able to optimize our checkout process using Amazon Pay CV2, so users committed to purchases more easily,” says Dumortier. “Amazon Pay CV2 was a big, big lever in terms of conversion.”

Using Amazon Pay, which stores shoppers’ information in their Amazon.fr accounts, Atlas for Men addresses these concerns. The checkout experience runs more smoothly, and shoppers who use “For us, it’s hard to quantify how fast it is,” says Dumortier. “We don’t even have to worry about it because the speedy checkout has become so automatic.”

Expanding business opportunities using Amazon Pay

Atlas for Men offers Amazon Pay CV2 in three of its 14 countries of operation: France, Germany, and the United States. It plans to roll out Amazon Pay CV2 next in Belgium and Austria and to eventually extend the feature to the rest of its operation. “I would give Amazon Pay five out of five stars,” Dumortier says. “It has been at our side during our company’s growth, answering every technical question and responding to our needs and the needs of our customers. We are extremely satisfied with Amazon Pay.”
