The Pay Off: On the road with Amazon Pay

Join us on a road trip as Amazon Pay and Alexa make the journey a breeze.

Busy with medical school, Amanda knows how important quality time with her friends and loved ones is. Ever since her best friend Ella got a new job in another city, she and Amanda have had to be even more intentional about making time for each other. Sometimes they make plans to go on short but sweet weekend adventures together.

Let’s see how Amanda prepares for a weekend trip to go to Chicago and see the sights with Ella, all made possible with Alexa and Amazon Pay.

9 a.m.: Prepping to drive

One of the great things about my med school schedule is that when I have a day off, I really appreciate the chance to sleep in. But when I roll out of bed at 9, I remember: There are still a few things I need to do to get ready before I hit the road to go see Ella.

Before I get to any of that though, I’m going to shower. Just this week, I got a new face and body cleansing system that has taken my shower routine to the next level. I discovered the Spin for Perfect Skin from Vanity Planet just by asking Alexa: “Alexa, ask Vanity Planet for the current promotions.” When the Spin for Perfect Skin was recommended, I knew almost instantly that it was just what I needed to keep my skin glowing, even on little sleep. So I ordered it and paid easily with Amazon Pay, and within no time it was at my door.

When I pop out of the shower and take a look at myself in the mirror, I suddenly wonder: Has Ella seen my new hair color? I don’t think so. I’ve recently started coloring my hair at home instead of going to the salon — and it’s resulted in some bold choices. But thanks to Madison Reed’s color adviser, I was able to find the perfect shade of red for me: Medium Amaretto Red. Can’t wait for Ella to see it.

12 p.m.: Hitting the road

The car is packed, I’m ready to go! I’m just about to pull out of the driveway when I realize: I forgot my mask! I race back inside and quickly grab my new copper-infused face mask from Copper Compression, which was as easy to buy as saying “Alexa, open Copper Compression” and selecting this mask. I was about to leave home when it dawns on me that I forgot my toothbrush, too! I head back to the bathroom to grab my Elements Sonic Toothbrush, another excellent recommendation from Vanity Planet, and then I head out the door.

3 p.m.: Getting gas

Long car rides are my favorite: I feel like I have all the time in the world to listen to my favorite tunes, sing along, and think about my life. These days, nothing breaks my stride — not even getting gas. When I realize I need to refill the tank, I just pull up to an Exxon gas station, and say to my Echo Auto, “Alexa, pay for gas.” All I have to do to refuel is confirm the pump number and location, give Alexa permission to turn on the pump, and then briefly get out of the car and fill up the tank. By the time I’ve gotten back into my car, I’ve already paid — using Amazon Pay — so I can just keep going.

5 p.m.: Paying bills on the go

I’m a big fan of the mental checklist — I like to go over tasks in my mind and see how I can optimize them. As I’m going through my list of everything that I have to do, I have the nagging suspicion that I’m forgetting something. At that very moment, my Alexa reminds me that my electricity bill is due – the very thing that I was struggling to remember! Even though I’m still in my car and I simply say to my Echo Auto, “Alexa, pay my electricity bill,” and voilà! I pay my bill using Amazon Pay, and I don’t have to worry about it again until next month.

6 p.m.: Seeing Ella!

Finally I arrive! And Ella, always on time, arrives just before me. It’s so good to see her. We decide that since it’s been a long day for both of us, tonight we’re going to keep it chill. We pile into the car to find a restaurant for dinner, and while we’re talking, we realize that it would be nice to go see a movie after dinner. This is why I love Ella; she’s up for anything. I just say, “Alexa, ask Atom what’s playing near me.” When Ella and I choose the perfect movie, we’re able to pick the screening and reserve our seats — all before we even get to the restaurant. Feeling accomplished already, I tell Ella that I think it’s going to be one of our most fun and successful trips yet, I can just feel it.
