elektroland24 increases Amazon Pay usage by 10% in 2 years

Learn how elektroland24, Germany’s first online retailer of specialty electrical materials, used Amazon Pay to deliver the speed and trust that their project-focused shoppers demand

You’re renovating your home and need professional-grade electrical switches. You know exactly what you want—a specific brand, a particular model—but finding it means driving to multiple specialty suppliers, hoping that they have it in stock. For German shoppers, this frustration was the norm until elektroland24 transformed the electrical materials market. Now, with thousands of premium products available online 24/7, shoppers can find what they need in minutes and check out with confidence.

Since 2015, elektroland24 has used Amazon Pay to deliver the trust, simplicity, and speed that their shoppers demand. Over a decade later, elektroland24 is still using Amazon Pay to convert, retain, and streamline the checkout process for shoppers who know exactly what they want and don’t want anything slowing them down.

Bridging professional quality with online accessibility

When elektroland24 launched in 2003, the German electrical-materials market was firmly business-to-business (B2B) territory. Professional electricians had access to premium brands and specialized products, but the average shopper faced limited options and complicated purchasing processes. The merchant saw an opportunity to change that.

“We were the first online shop in Germany that specialized in the sale of electrical materials,” says Ole Reinefeld, Ecommerce Manager at elektroland24. “More than 20 years later, we’re still setting standards in the industry.” Today, elektroland24 offers a range of more than 50,000 premium products, from switches, sockets, and lighting to installation materials, renewable energy solutions, and smart home devices.

The merchant’s success stems from understanding shoppers’ behavior and catering to their needs. Whether these shoppers are professional electricians ordering materials for a job site or homeowners upgrading to smart lighting systems, they aren’t browsing—they arrive with purpose. They’ve done their research, they know which products they need, and they’re ready to buy. For elektroland24, that meant the checkout experience had to be fast, frictionless, and trustworthy.

Choosing Amazon Pay for speed, trust, and shopper choice

In 2015, elektroland24 integrated Amazon Pay as part of their strategy to provide shoppers with familiar, trusted payment alternatives. “The decision to offer Amazon Pay was influenced by several key factors,” says Reinefeld. “We wanted to offer our shoppers a fast and convenient payment option. Many of them have an Amazon account, so they’re familiar with Amazon Pay, and we wanted to take advantage of that familiarity. Using Amazon Pay allows us to simplify and accelerate our checkout process.”

With an average order value (AOV) in the mid-three-digit range and a remarkably low 0.8% returned merchandise rate, elektroland24’s project-focused shoppers value efficiency at every step. They don’t want to experience delays from creating new accounts or friction from manually entering payment and delivery information. Using Amazon Pay to log in with their Amazon credentials allows them to complete their purchase in seconds. Not only is Amazon Pay faster and more convenient, but shoppers also have peace of mind knowing that their information remains secure.

In 2022, elektroland24 upgraded to the latest Amazon Pay technology. Then, in 2023, they migrated to the Shopware 6 ecommerce platform and activated Express Checkout that removes unnecessary clicks and delivers the speed that shoppers expect.

Growing payment share while strengthening shopper relationships

From 2023 to 2025, Amazon Pay’s cart share on elektroland24’s website grew by 10%—a notable achievement during a period marked by supply chain disruptions, inflation, and economic pressure. This increase secured their position as elektroland24’s second-most-used payment method. Now, 70% of elektroland24’s Amazon Pay shoppers choose Express Checkout. The merchant also observed a 5% increase in returning shoppers among Amazon Pay users.

Looking ahead, elektroland24 sees growing opportunities in renewable energy and smart home technology. As shoppers who installed traditional electrical systems decades ago now upgrade to intelligent devices, the merchant is positioned to serve both renovation and innovation. For these increasingly sophisticated purchases, Amazon Pay will continue to deliver what elektroland24’s shoppers have valued for a decade: the trust, simplicity, and speed that keep complex projects moving forward.
