What Is Amazon Pay for Alexa Skills?
We’re excited to announce voice-first monetization opportunities that are part of our vision to help you build a profitable business on Alexa. You now have more ways to earn money with your Alexa skills using the Amazon Pay service. With Amazon Pay for Alexa Skills, you can use Amazon’s simple voice purchasing flow to sell physical goods or services (like event tickets, transportation, flower delivery, and more).
With Amazon Pay, customers can easily pay for goods and services in your skill using the information already stored in their Amazon account—without needing to remember their username and password.
Virgin Trains is the first travel operator worldwide to sell tickets through Amazon Alexa. Customers in the UK can now book both single and return advanced tickets for Virgin Trains West Coast using just their voice, via Alexa-enabled devices including Amazon Echo.
In UK, these features are currently available in developer preview. You can apply today to participate in the developer preview by filling in the form below.
How It Works
If you sell physical goods or services on Alexa, a customer can now complete the purchase experience within your skill without having to leave the voice experience to enter credit card or shipping address details. A merchant first registers with Amazon Pay to use this service within their skill. Once you’ve registered with Amazon Pay, you simply add the service to your Alexa skill. Amazon Pay integrates with existing CRM and order management solutions, so merchants can manage their sales as part of the current process.
For customers, the experience is simple. With Amazon Pay for Alexa Skills, customers can pay for physical goods and services in your skill using the information already in their Amazon account. Alexa users grant your skill permission to use Amazon Pay as their default payment, which uses their payment details already pre-configured in their Amazon account.
