’Tis the season for giving to those in need

This Giving Tuesday ask, “Alexa, I’d like to make a donation,” to support one of more than 330 charitable organizations using Alexa and Amazon Pay.

As the holidays approach, many of us are getting swept up in the giving spirit. Why not extend the holiday-inspired goodwill beyond your family and friends and give back to those in need? This Giving Tuesday, celebrate the international day of charitable giving by donating to some of your favorite organizations and non-profits.

Now, with Alexa and Amazon Pay, participating in Giving Tuesday has never been easier. By simply saying, “Alexa, I’d like to make a donation,” you can donate to over 330 charitable organizations with just your voice and the information that’s stored in your Amazon account.

As you start thinking about where to donate, consider saving the hearts of those you love and making a gift to the American Heart Association. In the U.S., someone dies from heart disease, stroke, or another cardiovascular disease every 36 seconds.[1] In fact, heart disease is the number one killer in the nation, and stroke is the fifth. For nearly 100 years, the American Heart Association has been on a mission to reverse those trends, fighting heart disease and stroke, as well as striving to save and improve lives. This is your chance to help the millions of people who are susceptible to heart disease or stroke lower their risk, by helping to fund innovative research for new treatments and provide programs and services for survivors and their families. Your generosity won’t just benefit the AHA, it will bring us all one step closer to a world free of heart disease and stroke. And to donate, you simply have to ask Alexa by saying “Alexa, ,make a donation to the American Heart Association.”

Another charitable organization to consider donating to this holiday season is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year, about 175,000 children ages 14 and under are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. In fact, it’s the leading cause of death by disease for U.S. children. But St. Jude has been leading the way in how the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. And since the research hospital opened its doors over 50 years ago, the overall childhood cancer survival rate has increased from 20% to 80%.

When you donate to St. Jude, you’re helping the hospital cover their operating costs, which are nearly $3 million a day. Donations are paramount to the long-term success of the hospital’s work, because part of the incredible service that St. Jude offers is that they make sure that families never receive a bill — not for treatment, travel, housing, or food — all families have to worry about is helping their child live.

That’s where your donation comes in: You help ensure that doctors and researchers worldwide can continue to find new cures and treat new patients. And all you have to do is ask Alexa, “donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”
