Amazon Pay, Alexa, ExxonMobil, and Fiserv have started to roll out voice purchasing technology to nearly 11,500 Exxon and Mobil gas stations across the US. Customers with the Alexa app on their phone or Alexa-enabled device in their car, like Echo Auto or vehicles with Alexa Built-in, can now pay for fuel with just their voice.
How does it work?
Just say “Alexa, pay for gas” and Alexa will confirm the station location, pump number, and then activate the pump. The customer can then select the fuel grade and begin fueling. Transactions are made securely through Amazon Pay and powered by Fiserv, enabling customers to use their default payment method associated with their Amazon account, so payments are handled automatically after fueling. No additional sign-up or separate account is required.
So whether you’re heading out on a great American road trip this fall, or just running errands, remember that Alexa and Amazon Pay have got you covered. Enjoy the peace of mind knowing you won’t have to pull out your wallet at the pump and make it easier to pay for gas without having to take additional steps like using a keypad or touchscreen. Though you still have to call a mechanic to do something about that rattle in your engine.
